Full course description
Students will begin a personal journey of understanding leadership through learning of fourteen personal values that are critical to an excellent leader. Through shorter readings and written course components, students will evaluate where they stand on each value. Students will explore the uses of each value in her/his own leadership roles and opportunities and the challenges of implementing each value to its fullest capacity.

Meet the Facilitator
Dr. Jenelle Abnett, Assistant Professor of Education at Neumann University attended SUNY Cobleskill College where she earned an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, and then went on to Canisius College, for her baccalaureate degree in Psychology. Her undergraduate work in Psychology sparked an interest in brain science and learning theory. Understanding how different brains work and finding new ways to teach the same content to different learners inspired her to become a professor of special education. She continued her education at Notre Dame of Maryland University where she received a Master’s in Teaching Leadership and a Ph.D. in Changing Education for the Changing Population with a focus in Special Education. As a teacher in Baltimore City and Baltimore County schools, Dr. Abnett worked in both self-contained and inclusion classrooms for grades k-8, teaching students with a wide range of disabilities and disadvantages. She taught as an adjunct professor at both the Community College of Baltimore County and Notre Dame of Maryland University before becoming a professor at Neumann University. Her professional interests include Autism Spectrum disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities and reading interventions.
